Baylee Leazer, M.Ed., LPC, CYT-200

With 8 years of counseling experience spanning inpatient and outpatient settings, Baylee brings a wealth of knowledge related to numerous presenting concerns. Specializing in treating anxiety, depression, trauma, and neurodivergence, Baylee aims to provide a welcoming environment for all clients rooted in empowerment and mutuality. She believes that the most healing component of counseling is the relationship that is formed.

She dreamed of creating a community-driven practice, and in 2024 she founded Ascend Counseling & Consultation, PLLC. As a clinician, counselor educator, supervisor, and advocate, she seeks opportunities to honor lived experiences and build new futures.

Baylee is a Licensed Professional Counselor (VA), Certified Yoga Teacher (CYT-200), and is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). Her approaches to counseling are guided by person-centered counseling and Relational Cultural Theory (RCT).

In addition to providing counseling services, she is a professor at the University of Lynchburg’s Counselor Education program and doctoral student at James Madison University. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, knitting/crocheting, and reading. She lives in Lynchburg with her husband and best friend, Drew, and their 2 cats.

Owner, Lead Counselor

Carl Haire

Carl is a second-year student at the University of Lynchburg pursuing his Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. He has had previous experience working with children as a therapeutic mentor, and is excited to build his clinical scope further. He has an interest in working with individuals navigating trauma, anxiety, and depression. He also wishes to create a normalizing space for male clients to discuss their concerns—including those that challenge societal expectations. He believes that counseling is collaborative and client-dependent, prioritizing a personalized approach to counseling that honors the client at its center.

Carl will be providing services under supervision of Baylee Leazer, M.Ed., LPC. To schedule, please contact the practice by call, text, or e-mail.
